IT’S A TIME WARP AGAIN

- HELEN KEMPTON

PERFORMER John O’Hara says he has landed his dream role being cast as kinky frontman Frank-N-Furter in the John X production of The Rocky Horror Show.

The show has opened at Hobart’s Theatre Royal and will run until November 6 – which will make it the longest-running musical in Tasmania’s capital.

It is the first time the famous musical has come to the stage in Tasmania in 40 years and Mr O’Hara has come over from Melbourne to hit the stage here for the first time in his career.

“This role would be in my top three of all time. It is an absolute dream. I just love it,” he said.

“It is such a fun show and what we all need right now.

“It is such a timeless musical and every generation falls back in love with it.”

The Rocky Horror Show was first produced in the UK in 1973 by Richard OBrien. It was turned into a feature film in 1975 and been reproduced for stage many times.

This stage adaptation has been produced by John Xintavelonisin in collaboration with Cassie Xintavelonis and Ben Armitage.

Described as full of frothy and naughty fun, the production bursts at the seams with timeless classics including Sweet Transvestite, Dammit, Janet! and of course the pelvis-thrusting Time Warp.

Dressing up to watch the musical is encouraged but not compulsory.

It stars Rob Mallett as Brad, Imogen Moore as Janet, Scott Farrow as RiffRaff, John X as The Narrator, Vince Hooper as Rocky and O’Hara as FrankN-Furter.
