Dusseldorp’s mansion up for sale for $1.8m
FAMOUS Australian actor Marta Dusseldorp’s historic Hobart home has hit the market.
The historic property at Morris Ave, Taroona is known as Winmarleigh Lodge and Stables and is being advertised for sale for offers over $1.8m.
Dusseldorp, Ben Winspear and their children moved to Tasmania a few years ago, finding the “amount of dreaming space” created huge appeal and offered a great lifestyle for their children.
“We wanted to give our children the chance to grow up here because it is such a beautiful nurturing place and this home reflected that,” Dusseldorp said.
“It is a great house to dream in. And a house where you can believe anything is possible. We are sad to let it go.”
Dusseldorp said the family would particularly miss their neighbours.
“The community is really beautiful,’’ she said.
“Among all of the neighbours, there is a real sense of people looking out for one another and the kids all playing together.
“Our next door neighbour is a dear friend. I used to live in a big city life, but there is a sense of peace here in Taroona. I have found it a haven.”
The home, originally built in 1888, is visible from the Channel Highway, but retains privacy because it is nestled behind hedges and established trees.
Built of solid brick with sandstone details, the home has three spacious living areas, while the upstairs level features a vast master bedroom with views of the River Derwent.
Dusseldorp has appeared in many films and television series, including BlackJack, A Place to Call Home and recently in the women’s prison drama Wentworth.
