Mathieson Jnr quits Endeavour’s hotels

- ELI GREENBLAT

BRUCE Mathieson Junior has decided to step down as Endeavour’s hotels boss less than four months after its ASX debut.

Mr Mathieson will stay on at his role at Endeavour until December, overseeing the slow reopening of pubs in New South Wales and then Victoria as the economy is revived from Covid-19 shut downs, but will then hand over the reins to a new pubs boss.

The Mathieson family, led by Mr Mathieson’s father Bruce Mathieson Senior (pictured), are the nation’s most successful hoteliers, creating the country’s biggest portfolio of pubs, hotels and clubs under the ALH Group banner that was once partly controlled by Woolworths and then spun out into Endeavour.

Mr Mathieson Snr remains Endeavour’s largest shareholder with a stake of just under 15 per cent.

Endeavour said Mr Mathieson Jr was leaving to “pursue other interests”. Endeavour shares fell 1.7 per cent to $7.
