NESER READY TO DELIVER

A LONG-AWAITED Test debut in this summer’s Ashes series would be the icing on the cake for Queensland Bulls paceman Michael Neser, who is also set to celebrate the birth of his first child this month.

Neser will lead Queensland’s attack when the Bulls start the defence of their Sheffield Shield title against Tasmania at Karen Rolton Oval on Thursday, before backing up in next Wednesday’s

Marsh Cup one-day battle with South Australia at the same venue.

After that, he will return to Brisbane for the birth of his son, meaning he will miss the Bulls’ Shield clash with the Redbacks, starting at Adelaide Oval on Friday week.

“I’m nervous, but excited,” the expectant father said.

“The baby’s due on the 21st of October, so I’d probably be pushing it if I played in that Shield game.
