CHIPPING IN TO HELP VACCINATION RATE

- CAMERON WHITELEY

THIS could just be the tastiest perk going around for getting vaccinated against Covid-19.

To mark Tasmania achieving a 60 per cent double dose vaccination rate this week, Deliveroo has teamed up with Hungry Jack’s to give customers free large fries with their order this weekend.

The offer applies to all Deliveroo customers who order from Hungry Jack’s locations statewide.

Tasmania now has a fully vaccinated rate of 62.7 per cent while 78.9 per cent of the eligible population have received a first dose.

Hobart Deliveroo driver Ishwor Gurung said offering free food was a great way to celebrate the state’s push to achieve even higher vaccination rates.

“Because of Covid, so many lives were lost, so I think vaccination is the best thing to do,’’ he said.

Mr Gurung, who is fully vaccinated, has been with Deliveroo for three years and moved to Tasmania from Sydney last year.

Deliveroo’s Joe Satari said a successful vaccination program was crucial for people to get back to doing the things they love.

”We started this process to find a vaccination incentive for everyone along the journey to freedom,’' he said.

Hungry Jack’s chief marketing officer Scott Baird said the initiative was a fun way to celebrate progress on the vaccination rollout.

“We know Aussies love our fries and every little bit of encouragement helps when it comes to hitting the vaccination rates,’’ he said.
