Joe’s hero safe at last

-

LAHORE: An Afghan interpreter who helped to rescue Joe Biden when his helicopter was grounded in a snowstorm in Afghanistan in 2008 has escaped the country after hiding from the Taliban for weeks.

Aman Khalili entered Pakistan last week with his wife and five children, almost two months after the Taliban swept into Kabul on August 15.

Mr Khalili had appealed to the US President to save his family, prompting the White House to pledge to get him out.

He was part of a team that rescued Mr Biden when his helicopter was forced to land in a blizzard, leaving him vulnerable to a Taliban terror attack.
