Inglis will zero in on team glory

- ALEX CONRAD

AUSTRALIAN T20 World Cup bolter Josh Inglis has put lifting the trophy next month ahead of his own personal ambitions despite an international debut looming ever closer.

The England-born 26-yearold, who was picked in the 15man Australian squad on the back of some serious runs for Western Australia and Leicestershire in the T20 Blast in England, said he was “more than happy to score zero runs” if that’s what it takes to win the tournament for the first time.

Inglis, a keeper-batsman, could usurp Matthew Wade as Australia’s first-choice gloveman. But he just wants to be part of a winning squad.

“I think when you come to a tournament, your aim is to win,” Inglis said.

“If you’re thinking about personal success, you’re in the wrong game.

“I’d be more than happy to score zero runs in the tournament and lift it (the trophy) at the end of the tournament.”
