I LOVE CAPTAINCY: WARNER
DAVID Warner believes being captain “makes me play a lot better” as the Australian opener spoke of his disappointment at being dumped by his Indian Premier League franchise.
Despite being fourth on the all-time IPL run-scoring list, Warner was first axed as skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad and then dropped from the team after just two innings when the tournament resumed last month.
The 34-year-old, who has a lifetime captaincy ban in Australia for his involvement in the sandpaper scandal in South Africa, wants to captain another IPL team after making his exit from Sunrisers complete.
“(Captaincy) is something I love doing,” he said.
“If it did arise, I’d love to do it. A person of my character can get people up and about. I’m energetic, I call a spade a spade.”
