Decision on Hobart show looms
ORGANISERS of the Royal Hobart Show will make a call on Monday on whether this year’s event can proceed.
The show, which like many Tasmanian events was cancelled last year due to coronavirus, is due to start on Wednesday next week and run until Saturday.
It comes after the announcement of a three-day lockdown for southern Tasmania starting at 6pm on Friday.
In a statement, the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania said it would monitor the situation at the weekend.
The show society has been forced to cancel its Art on Show launch, which was due to be held on Monday and traditionally signals the beginning of the Royal Hobart Show.
This year, the show is due to celebrate 200 years of agricultural showing in Hobart.
