MASK, VAX AND CARRY ON

-

SOUTHERN Tasmanians have been released from their three-day snap lockdown with no new coronavirus cases reported in the state.

But the state government requires residents aged 12 years and over in the 12 southern council areas to wear masks when outside or when visiting someone else’s home.

Schools will operate as normal from today but restrictions on visits to aged care facilities and hospitals remain in place until Friday.

It’s good news for cricket fans too as crowds – so long as they mask up – can head out and watch the Hobart Hurricanes play in their WBBL match against Melbourne.

ALEXANDRA and Madeline Tubb will be back in purple on Tuesday to cheer on their Hurricane heroes as the lifting of the lockdown allows crowds to return to the cricket.

The Clarence sisters were gutted to miss the Hurricanes opening two games of the WBBL season, but the cricket loving duo will be there with their dad, Owen, for the clash with the Melbourne Stars at Blundstone Arena.

Dad said his girls were fullon committed WBBL Hurricanes fans. “They were disappointed they didn’t get to go on the weekend, so they are pretty excited to go after school,” Owen said.

“They like watching both (WBBL and BBL) but they did ask me last year after watching the WBBL if there was a men’s team.

“They got into it watching the WBBL.”

Owen won’t be taking just his girls to the big game. The Cottage School physical education teacher, he will be taking about 50 students ranging from grade one to grade six.

The teachers and the children aged 12-plus must wear face masks.
