A 13-YEAR-OLD from Hobart has been crowned Tasmania’s best disc golfer.

Atticus Ariston took out the advanced division at Burnie on Monday in the Tasmanian Open State Disc Golf Championships.

In Burnie, there were 27 players competing across six divisions to be crowned the best in the state and Hobart’s Ariston claimed victory in the advanced division ahead of Edward Hesline of Launceston.

He only secured victory on the final hole of the event with a oneshot win.

Ariston will now compete for the junior title at the Australian championships in Victoria in

February. There are two established disc golf clubs in Tasmania: Burnie and Hobart, which both host two 18-hole courses.

Tasmania will host the Australian titles in 2024 and plans are in place to form a Tasmanian Disc Golf body.
