$40M RETAIL CENTRE AT STONY RISE

- DAMITA LAMONT

A $40M neighbourhood retail centre will be developed in Devonport by 2024, amid strong investment and job growth in the wider area.

Stony Rise Village will sit on a 3.3ha site at the corner of Stony Rise Rd and Friend St, adjacent to the Devonport Homemaker Centre, in the suburb of Stony Rise.

Tipalea Partners has acquired the site, formerly owned by Bunnings, and construction is expected to start next year, creating about 200 jobs during construction and more than 500 jobs once it opens.

Stony Rise Village will provide everyday shopping facilities to the growing communities in Stony Rise, Miandetta and further south, including a Coles or Woolworths full-line supermarket, convenience stores and food outlets.

“High-quality, convenient retail is long overdue and desperately needed in Devonport,” Tipalea Partners chief executive Scott Spanton said.

Tipalea Partners is also building the Glebe Hill Village shopping centre at Howrah.
