Lockdown a happy time to take it all in
LOCKDOWN can be a good opportunity to review daily life, take a deep breath and engage with the world around us.
I took the opportunity on Monday to take a walk and experience the peace and quiet which I rarely find on my early morning weekday walks. The absence of traffic enabled me to hear and appreciate the life which was thriving within my community. I heard a symphony of frog calls which had previously been masked by early morning traffic, the calls of lap wing plovers and the raucous noise of galas, parrots and magpies, what a sheer joy for the beginning of a new day.
Wearing a face mask was a challenging task as it caused me to experience a level of discomfort I haven’t know previously, but when I was able to share the joy of the natural life exploding around me, it was a small sacrifice. Lockdown is imperative for caring for our community and although it may impinge on our daily lives creating challenges previously unexperienced, but also opens opportunities to become a part of the world in its natural setting, just as it was meant to be and I feel the better for it.
