QUARANTINE BREACH HITS HOME

-

A SOUTHERN Tasmanian man has been given a fine and escorted to a government quarantine facility after he was caught flouting home quarantine rules.

The 65-year-old, who arrived into the state from NSW on October 12, had transitioned into home quarantine last Thursday after two days in hotel quarantine and assessment from authorities.

Although the man had returned a negative Covid-19 test, police were still required to conduct a compliance check and, on visiting, found multiple tradesmen at his home doing nonemergency works.

He has since been escorted back to a government quarantine facility to complete the remainder of his isolation and received a $1557 fine.

A further two people have been issued with fines for failing to comply with mask requirements in southern Tasmania on Tuesday, while another person was issued a caution.
