Miss-ing out comes to an end

WELL-BRED two-year-old pacer Miss Papenhuyze­n made up for a string of minor placings to score an emphatic win in the $50,000 Evicus Stakes final for fillies over 1609m at Elwick on Wednesday night.

The Rohan Hillier-trained filly placed second at her first three starts this preparatio­n that included runner-up to Mays Place in a Sweepstake­s fillies prelude and final.

Hillier’s filly began well from the pole position but couldn’t hold out the favourite Mays Place who led comfortabl­y.

Miss Papenhuyze­n’s driver Conor Crook was content to drop in for the trail and in the home straight the last time she flashed home along the sprint lane to win comfortabl­y.

Miss Papenhuyze­n (Sweet Lou-Robyn Scherbotsk­y) has notched two wins and four seconds from her six starts for more than $40,000 in stakes.
