SUTHERLAND CASHES IN
ALL-ROUNDER Annabel Sutherland made the most of her three lives as Melbourne Stars finally got on the winners’ board.
Sutherland hit 57 and chipped in with a wicket as the Stars beat Sydney Sixers by 30 runs to get their first win of this season’s Women’s Big Bash League.
Her knock came after a lean run of form with the bat during Australia’s recent series against India.
She was dropped by the Sixers on 23, 35 and again on 40 and kicked on to reach her second WBBL halfcentury.
She brought it up with a boundary, but couldn’t see out the innings.
A modest total was on the cards for the Stars at that stage, until Maia Bouchier (32 not out) and Kim Garth (24 not out) put on an excellent partnership at the end to reach 3-139.
