Police plea over street assault

TASMANIA Police is appealing for witnesses after a man was found unresponsive on a New Norfolk street with significant head injuries in the early hours of Tuesday.

It is believed the man was intoxicated at the time and may have been involved in confrontations with people in the area around Andrew St. He was discovered by paramedics from Ambulance Tasmania with a substantial laceration to his ear as well as multiple injuries to his face and skull.

The man is in a stable condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital but will require extensive treatment and rehabilitation. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Bridgewater Criminal Investigation Branch on 131444.
