RSPCA OFF THE PACE
RSPCA chief executive Jan Davis (Talking Point, October 19) is rather late to the party on the use of whips in horse racing.
Her article begs the question. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has filed criminal charges on this, responding to the clear, unambiguous provisions in the Animal Welfare Act in respect of beating animals.
was it left to PETA to do this? Why did the RSPCA not do it a long time ago? Perhaps the RSPCA could ask PETA if it can be joined in this case?
It can’t suddenly have occurred to Ms Davis that beating animals — for any reason — is a clear breach of the Animal Welfare Act. All power to PETA.
