RELEASE THE MAPS

-

I WROTE a Talking Point article (Mercury, October 7) calling out the government and specifically Minister Barnett on salmon expansion. Julian Amos (Letters, October 10) replied with misleading information that failed to address the core question — is a cover up about salmon expansion underway?

Since the article’s release Minister Barnett (who many would say would turn up at an envelope opening) has been missing in action. I can only assume his disappearance confirms what we all suspect — Minister Barnett knows exactly what salmon industry expansion maps I am referring to and doesn’t want to share them with the public. I’m sure the people of the South-East, East, North, North-West and West coasts would like to see the original maps.

I reiterate my original challenge. I will sign an affidavit stating that the maps we have are maps produced for Minister Barnett’s committee. I call on Minister BarWhy nett to sign an affidavit saying they do not exist and table that in Parliament. Or, he can just release the maps and let Tasmanians make up their own mind about the issue.
