The Ben Simmons circus has dominated the headlines this week, but his 76ers teammates showed they can get the job done without him. They were too good for the Pelicans in their season opener, with Joel Embiid doing plenty, while Tobias Harris chipped in with 20 points. It’s unclear whether Simmons will play on Saturday for the showdown with the Nets, who are without their own star Kyrie Irving. They couldn’t match it with the Bucks, but Aussie Patty Mills proved he’s one of the buys of the year with perfect shooting from deep.
