Zaaki aims to bounce back in Cox Plate Mares get Invitation to riches

Zaaki has maintained favouritism for the $5m Cox Plate at The Valley after drawing barrier six in the field, which was reduced to nine starters on Friday after European import Gold Trip was scratched on veterinary advice. TAB had already paid out punters who backed Zaaki to win the weightfor-age feature before his surprise defeat in the Might And Power, won by Cox Plate rival Probabeel. Star colt Anamoe has been a big firmer since winning the Caulfield Guineas earlier this month.

New Zealand star Entriviere is the favourite and has been kept fresh after running third behind Vangelic in the Golden Pendant when she settled too far back. Vangelic since had a horror run in the Silver Eagle. Icebath also wasn’t far behind Vangelic in the Golden Pendant and turned in a big run in the Epsom Handicap. Other top-class mares include Entriviere $3, Media Award, Sweet Deal, Icebath $7.50 Madam Legend and Nudge,

while Startantes is the only filly.
