Devilishly good in their field of excellence

SOME of the state’s best young footballer­s have been recognised with the Tasmania Devils announcing its 2021 season award winners.

On Friday night Glenorchy midfielder Perri King and Launceston’s Zach Morris were rewarded for their fantastic seasons taking out their respective NAB League best and fairest awards.

King was rewarded for her stunning NAB League season in which the she averaged 19.7 disposals and 9.4 tackles per game to be selected in the NAB League Team of the Year.

King’s strong form was also rewarded by selection in the AFLW draft in June when she was picked up by North Melbourne with pick 43.

Morris took out the Boys best and fairest for his standout season in the NAB League which saw the versatile youngster play a key role in the Devils defence where he averaged 14.8 disposals, 4.7 marks, and 4.8 rebound 50s per game.

Baynen Lowe from Devonport came runner up in the NAB League best and fairest for his great year. North Hobart’s Claire Ransom capped off a stellar year being named the NAB League girls Rising Star

while also finishing runner up in the best and fairest, while North Launceston youngster Ryley Sanders stamped himself as a star of the future by taking out the U17’s best player along with the NAB League Rising Star award. At just 16 Sanders put in a number of eye-catching performanc­es where playing as an underage player he averaged 16 disposals and 4.1 tackles per game.

To round out the season awards Amy Prokopiec (Clarence) and Jye Menzie (North Hobart) were recognised as the Devil’s NAB League leading goal kickers in their respective competitio­ns.
