Pyecroft backs his attack to get the job done

NORTH Hobart playing coach Alex Pyecroft says despite an interrupted start to the CTPL season his side is raring and ready to go as it prepares to host New Town over the weekend.

A number of washouts and last week’s snap three-day lockdown has wreaked havoc on the early part of the premier league season but Pyecroft was keeping a positive outlook and had faith his side was ready to go in its big clash with the Bucks.

“The whole competition is in the same boat and it has been slightly frustrating but we can’t do much about it and just have to do what we can to be as prepared as we can be,” Pyecroft said. “We’ve been lucky we’ve had our indoor centre to train at so we don’t feel like we are too underprepared coming into Saturday and we are keen to get out there and play.”

The Demons are 1-1 in their first two matches and Pyecroft said he was wary of the quality additions the Bucks had added in their off-season.

“They’ve got a few new players with the likes of Anthony Mosca and Ben and Harry Manenti from Sydney, so they’ve added some good quality. Ben obviously played for the Sixers and a little for New South Wales’ second eleven so he’s a quality player and they’ve got their captain Mitch Owen obviously as well, so they’ve got a pretty good side this year. It’ll be a tough match.”

Pyecroft said despite the additions of the Sydney trio he was confident his side could get the job done. “We’ve had a strong core group for a few years now and we know what we are going to get from our group, so we definitely back ourselves in to make it a good match,” he said.

“Our strength has been our bowling attack in the past and we have a similar attack this year.”

Pyecroft said outside of Caleb Jewell and Jordan Silk, who are unavailable due to Tassie Tiger commitments, his side was at full strength. The Dees will host the Bucks in a two-dayer at the TCA starting at 10.30 on Saturday while the Knights will host University, Lindisfarne will host South Hobart-Sandy Bay and Great Northern will host Clarence.
