Flooded roads shut for safety

FLOODING amid the state’s heavy rainfall last week has forced Tasmania Police to close several roads.

Deddington Rd was among the roads closed because of flooding between Bryants Lane and Nile Rd, in the rural towns of Deddington and Nile, 30 minutes southeast of Launceston.

Merry Wood Rd and St Pauls Dome Rd, both off Royal George Rd, were also closed at Royal George on the East Coast.

In Ross, police shut access to Roseneath Rd.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood watch for the North, northeast and southeast, with a flood warning for the Coal River.

Moderate flood warnings remain for the North Esk River and South Esk River, and minor flood warnings affect Macquarie River, Jordan River, Meander River and the River Derwent.
