WINNER’S OPTIONS OPEN

-

JOSEPH O’Brien is in no hurry to lock in plans for Cox Plate winner State Of Rest.

The $1m Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on November 6 is still on the table, along with the lucrative Hong Kong options on December 12.

The International Raceday at Sha Tin includes the $4.3m Hong Kong Cup and $3.4m Hong Kong Vase.

But O’Brien is happy to soak up the Cox Plate while

State Of Rest recovers the next few days.

“It’s a bit early to make any decisions,” O’Brien, a dual Melbourne Cup-winner, said. “He has the option of the Mackinnon and the option of Hong Kong.

“We’ll see how he holds up and discuss it with the owners and make a decision then.”

State Of Rest denied star Godolphin colt Anamoe in a thrilling finish to the Cox Plate on Saturday.
