Weather gods put an end to matches

THE CTPL’s interrupted start to the season continued over the weekend when only two sides were able to play for an extended period across the entire competition.

On Saturday, only one match across the state got under way until wild weather caused a halt to the Clarence and Great Northern clash at Windsor Park after just four balls.

On Sunday, the poor weather continued to wreak havoc.

The only match that took place was between Kingborough and University, when 75 overs were bowled before the captains agreed to call the game a draw because there was not enough time for either side to get a result.

During the limited action, debutants Anthony Adlam (66 off 114) and Nivethan Radhakrishnan (53 off 182) performed well for the Knights on their way to a score of 3-192 off 75 overs.

Vice-captain Dylan Hay (41 not out off 88) was also performing well before play was stopped.

For University, Param Uppal (1-36), Bradley Hope (1-39) and Louis Smith (1-48) did the damage with the ball.

Each side scheduled to play over the weekend will be awarded a draw in what has been a heavily interrupted start to the CTPL season.
