I’LL HAVE A LONG BLACK AND WHITE

-

A GROUP of Collingwood players is opening a cafe in rival territory – Hawthorn.

Magpies defender Jordan Roughead says the investment idea was the easiest sell he’s ever made to teammates Nathan Murphy, Callum Brown and Tasmanian Brody Mihocek.

“The original site was in Cremorne

but that fell through,” Roughead said. “I knew Jordy (Faulkner), he was my local barista on Bridge Road and he said he wants to start his own thing and needs money, and I said I want to as well but I don’t have hospitality experience.

“So I talked to the boys at the club. It didn’t take much convincing.”

The New York-style cafe called

Whiplash is being built on Auburn Rd with the intention to open in late November.

“We all love Melbourne’s cafe and coffee scene and we are intending to work here when we can and do a few shifts,” Roughead said.

“Cameron (Charnock) is our builder and he’ll sort the interior design.”
