Twist to fitness workout

- ROSEMARY MURPHY

LAUNCESTON is Tasmania’s first city to have the latest fitness offering from global franchise F45.

Brother and sister duo Danica and Field Reeves already own two F45 franchise gyms in the city and have now opened an FS8 studio on Brisbane St.

Ms Reeves said it was mixture of eight different modes in a 45 minute workout.

“FS8 is a low impact group training offering that’s new to the market,” Ms Reeves.

“It combines elements of pilates, reformer and mat, yoga and tone for an all-in-one workout.”

There are eight FS8 studios operating in Australia, with another 50 expected to open throughout the year.

The initials in the name stand for functional and style, with the eight representing the number of modalities that are incorporated into the workout.

“It’s very much still a workout, you’re still going to sweat and you’re going to see results,” Ms Reeves said.

“Because it’s always going to be a mix of modes, you’re never going to have the same workout the next day.”

It has caught the attention of world champion surfer Mick Fanning who is an ambassador for FS8 and also plans to open his own studio.

Ms Reeves said they started up their first F45 studio after the franchise started up in Hobart.

“We’re from Launceston originally and felt like there was a real gap in the market.”

“We’re very familiar with the area and have good connections with different sporting groups, and think this is a strong continuation (on from F45),” she said.

Ms Reeves said they have been inundated with requests from people trying to join since holding an open day and sneak peak session.

FS8 is open now.
