Primed Arrows set sights on Cripps

- FRANCES REID

Cripps Waratah and AYCFriends Arrows will be facing off this weekend at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre in the twelfth round of the Tasmanian Netball League.

Arrows are settling into their rhythm at this point in the league, and are coming off the back of a confident 59-34 win against Kingston last week, in which they moved into the top four and are in good stead for a finals spot.

They will be looking to continue this form against the third-seeded Cripps, says head coach Sonja Fletcher.

“We are looking forward to taking the momentum of our recent results into our game against Cripps. It’s important to do well against the good teams as you build through the season.”

She praised Cripps’ methods and the strength they have exhibited throughout the season. “We have great respect for their style of play, depth of talent, and we know they are well coached.”

The third-ranked Cripps side will need to dig deep to maintain their position, as Arrows will be fighting hard to advance further.

Cripps will be using the best of their defensive structures to combat the strength and accuracy of the Arrows’ shooting line-up; and their flow and combinations through the midcourt will be vital to the effectiveness of their game.

Friday’s match will be the second time the two sides have met in 2022, with Cripps prevailing over Arrows 50-23 in their round 5 clash.

Friday will also see Karana take on Kingston at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre; while Devon and top-seeded Hawks will battle it out in Ulverstone on Saturday.
