Bazan has a Capital idea
Four-year-old gelding Capital Cheval resumes from a break in The Win Network Olympians Class 2 Handicap (1200m) at the Good Friday race meeting in Launceston.
Trainer Jessie Bazan has been more than happy with the gelding’s efforts since arriving at her stable three starts ago.
The gelding has yet to race since winning over 1420m in Launceston in late November and kicked off this preparation with an 800m Longford trial win on 19 March.
“He is a lovely horse who has been a great addition to the stable. He has done more than we expected last prep, and it’s great to have him back,” Bazan said.
“It was an easy decision to tip him out (after his last win). We were hoping he would get a win before we did, and he managed to double his purchase price, so we were pretty happy.”
Capital Cheval will jump from barrier four in Friday’s race, with Troy Baker booked for the ride.
“Hopefully, he can get a bit of cover from that gate and finish off strongly. He has trialled up nicely and this run will benefit him for when he steps up in trip again, but I’m happy with how he has progressed,” the Brighton-based trainer said.

Melanion was only having his first start since joining the Dean Braun stable, and he produced a brilliant sprint to come from last to score in the slowest of the heats.
Two local stars are missing from the race – Magician was scratched from his heat after getting cast in his box, while Mickey Oh was declared a non-runner in his heat after spinning around just prior to the start being affected.
