At its core, the Stadia Precinct’s Mac Point 2.0 proposal not only envisages a state-of-theart stadium and entertainment precinct, but aims to address critical social issues.

As the newly appointed chief executive of ResolutionsWon Pty Ltd, I commend the Stadia Precinct’s proactive strategies to date to tackle our social challenges head-on, fostering a more inclusive and sustainable future for Tasmania.

One of the most pressing issues facing Tasmania is the lack of affordable housing. The Stadia

Precinct’s commitment to raising awareness about the construction of affordable housing units during and after stadium development is creditable.

More than 100,000 additional dwellings are currently needed nationally, and Tasmania’s public housing waiting list currently stands at more than 4800.

During development of Mac Point 2.0, the plan is for 350 dwellings to be constructed to house workers on the site. Following construction, the dwellings will be reprovisioned and offered as affordable housing.

By engaging with local stakeholders, light is being shed on this crucial aspect of the project, and it will remain a central focus throughout the development process.

Moreover, Mac Point 2.0’s integration of facilities catering to returned servicemen and women exemplifies our deep understandin g of social responsibility.

By including

RSL museum/visitor experiences into the stadium design and pledging to donate parking revenue to the RSL on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day, Mac Point 2.0 honours and supports veterans in a tangible way. Outreach efforts to veteran-focused organisations and platforms underscore our commitment to inclusivity and support for those who have served our country.

Addressing transportation concerns, particularly carparking, is another crucial aspect of the proposed development. The emphasis on subterranean carparks and parkand-ride facilities highlights a proactive approach to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance accessibility, ensuring a positive impact on Hobart’s traffic management and overall urban mobility.
