NBA greats to welcome Lee

-

Australian star Min Woo Lee will play for NBA royalty after signing with a team for Tiger Woods’ new indoor golf league owned by Golden State Warriors champions Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

Lee, the world No.34, has joined the roster of the newly formed Bay Golf Club for Woods’ TGL, the tech-infused golf league that will start in 2025 after a 12-month delay.

He was scouted to the join the inaugural league before the purpose-built stadium in Florida was destroyed by severe weather. The delay also cost the league the presence of Jon Rahm, who has since joined LIV Golf.

Lee will now join reigning US Open champion Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Aberg and Shane Lowry as part of the Californiabased team that includes fourtime NBA champions Curry, a golf fanatic who has attempted to play on the secondary Korn Ferry Tour, Thompson and former teammate Andre Iguodala, who are among the ownership group.

Formula 1 driver Alex Albon is also among a slew of minority owners.

The inaugural TGL season will tee off January 7, 2025, in prime time on ESPN.

A massive new steelsupported structure is set to house the giant screens and stadium-style stands that will present indoor golf on a whole new level. There will be six teams, each of which will feature four PGA Tour players.

Woods and Rory McIlroy will be at the centre of the new operation, which has been spruiked as a rival to the entertainment factor of LIV Golf.
