Day full of festive fun
The annual Christmas celebration was held last Tuesday, December 11. Ninety-four members and guests arrived at midday at the Geraldton Queen Elizabeth II Centre looking forward to the occasion.
President Trevor Hansen welcomed guests, members and friends and thanked those who had made the day possible. He also gave special thanks to the special guests who sponsor the bowling tournaments during the year.
The program for the day was organised by social committee members Val Brown and Faye Wright. Other willing helpers also provided support. Thank you for all the preparation and work involved for this special day.
Special guests included sponsors Ian Blayney MLA, Colin de Grussa MLC and Laurie Graham MLC (on behalf of Darren West), Kelly Eastough from Bendigo Bank, City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn and his partner Zoe Parasiliti.
Queen Elizabeth II Centre representatives Rosetta Finlay, Louise O’Malley and Fred Block were also welcomed and thanked for the support they give to the Seniors Action Group throughout the year.
Entertainment began immediately, provided by Kerry and Peter Vanderpol, known as Left of the Line. The musical duo played and sang during the afternoon.
Dinner included an entree of prawns or chicken, roast main meal and sweets of sticky date pudding and Christmas trifle, which kept everyone well fed during the afternoon.
Raffle money cards were opened and the winners were Ingrid Rawson, Barry and Shirley Javens, Dorothy Boddington, Brian Clark, Pat Blackmore (x2), Rhod Lording and Ian Mansfield.
Door prizes were drawn and the winners were Kelly Eastough, Rhonda Maley, June Morris, Pauline Fowler, Leila Green, Louise O’Malley, Barry Javens, Lina Mittoni and Chris Blanco.
Small gifts were given to everyone who attended the celebration so no-one went home empty-handed.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service raffle was the last item for the day.
This included several hampers which included items provided by members over the last few weeks.
Prize winners in order were Lyn Blackmore, Kay Eastough, Dawn Schofield, Faye Wright, Gloria Ward, Rhonda Reynolds, Ingrid Rawson, Lila Gudgeon, Joe Miragliotta, Val Ward, Sylvia Peel, Dawn Parry, Ray Blanco and Iris Mackenzie.
The total funds raised will be advised in a later edition.
We are sad to learn of seniors who have been unwell and wish them a speedy recovery especially Di, John, Ted, Joy and Edna.
Sending our sincere condolences to those members who have lost a loved one recently.
