State conference speakers confirmed
There was good attendance at the final meeting for the year of the local branch of National Seniors who met at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre on Friday, December 14.
A number of items concerning seniors were discussed.
Concern was expressed regarding the possibility of the removal of franking credits. This possibility has been raised in the lead-up to next year’s Federal election.
A full report was given on planning for the 2019 National Seniors State Conference which will be hosted by the Geraldton branch and held in July next year. Guest speakers have been confirmed, with one speaking on the history of the Batavia. It is expected that delegates from a number of branches are planning to attend the conference. A committee to undertake the organisation of this event was elected at a previous branch meeting.
Following the meeting, members were entertained with a very enjoyable bracket of many songs by Joy and Yvonne.
This was followed by a most enjoyable and lavish bring-and-share Christmas luncheon.
As the branch does not meet in January the next meeting will be held at the QEII Centre on Friday, February 8 at 10am. All local seniors are most welcome.
