Midwest Times - - NEWS - Shane Love MLA Member for Moore

I was in Dongara last week to meet with those who will be impacted by the McGowan government decision to seize a 17 percent commercial stake in WA’s Western Rock Lobster fishery. Labor’s move to increase the total annual catch from 6,300 tonnes to 8,000 tonnes but retain ownership of 1,385 tonnes is a direct attack on the property rights of the WA fishing industry. The industry say this decision was made without consultation and with the threat of losing an industry funding package. I will be taking this matter up with the McGowan government on behalf of my constituents who are the backbone of the Western Rock Lobster industry. Labor have declared fracking to be safe in the Mid West while maintaining a ban on fracking in the South West, Peel and Metropolitan areas. Premier McGowan made the announcement following the recent 12 month long Independent Scientific Inquiry into fracking. The hypocrisy of this decision is astounding given that water resources in the southern part of the Moore electorate link to the Perth groundwater system and the Gingin area is home to some 40 percent of the state’s horticultural production. The Premier needs to understand that Mid West residents have consistently called for fracking to be banned in their towns and communities. Snakes are on the move as day time temperatures rise. Concerns had been raised regarding the lack of snake

bite anti-venom at WA Country Health Service (WACHS) facilities. Following representations, 69 of the 81 WACHS facilities now stock anti-venom. For those living in Moore, these include Dalwallinu, Dongara, Geraldton, Jurien Bay, Kalbarri, Morawa, Moora, Mullewa, Northampton and Three Springs. I understand that the Lancelin Silver Chain (which is not a WACHS facility) also stocks black and brown snake anti-venom. Snake bite first aid advice can be found at:sets/uploads/fact%20sheets/english/ FS_snakebite.pdf In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Christmas and New Year. Take care and stay safe on the roads during the holiday season.
