3 DESIGN IDEAS
Briony Fitzgerald shares three things to consider before redoing interiors.
1
To help you visualise a new interior, start with one thing you love; it might be a coloured tile, a particular fabric, a painting or an inherited piece. 2
Where I Splurge? Great art – it will make you happy if you love it. Save? Using cheaper fabrics on larger pieces of furniture. 3
Think about how you live, rather than what’s fashionable at the time. Home should be livable for the people who live there.
Clockwise, from top left: Briony Fitzgerald grew up surrounded by Marimekko textiles (Marimekko Pieni Unikko fabric pictured); Fitzgerald suggests ‘great art’ as an interiors splurge - ‘Allure’ by Michael McHugh, acrylic on canvas, Martin Browne Contemporary; Fitzgerald says it’s “all in the detail”. She suggests tiles are a good place to start.
