RECTANGULAR LAMPS

Mini Magazine - - Tech -

I’ve recently seen some great retro pics of Minis from the 1960s era, and have noticed some with rectangular headlamps. I think they look really great and would love to replicate this look for my Mini – can you buy the wings anywhere to do this? Paul This is the first time we recall being asked such a question! This look gained popularity in the late-‘60s, having been employed by the likes of Stewart and Arden on their cut-down Minisprints and the like, and by various coachbuilders like Wood & Pickett. Back then, getting the rectangular lamp units to fit, usually 4x6-inch items, would have been the handiwork of talented craftsmen modifying the original wings. Certainly we’ve not seen offthe-shelf replacement wings modified in this way. With the right skills and quite likely a fair wad of money, it would surely be possible to replicate the look, providing you can get hold of a set of suitable lamp units.

‘60s style headlamps.
