Alexandra Horowitz is the author of the New York Times bestseller­s Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know and Being a Dog: Following the Dog into a World of Smell. Her new book, Our Dogs, Ourselves, was published in September. She is a Senior Research Fellow and professor at Barnard College, where her Dog Cognition Lab performs research on a wide range of topics, including dog olfaction, emotions, and play behaviour.
