Australians are increasingly paying for purchases electronically, and our winning everyday accounts recognise this by providing additional features and functions without a corresponding fee burden.

ING’s Orange Everyday account has skyrocketed from third place in 2018 to take out the top award. This account comes packed with extras. Deposit $1000 or more per month and make five or more card purchases each month, and pay zero ING international transaction fees and zero ATM fees for machines anywhere in Australia or around the world.

Macquarie Bank’s Transaction Account is runner-up among the banks for a second year. Good news for travellers: you pay zero international transaction fees when you shop overseas or withdraw cash with your Macquarie Debit MasterCard. In Australia, enjoy free access to any rediATM and save with a refund on fees incurred at all other ATMs. Apple Pay and Google Pay are both available.

Macquarie’s Platinum Transaction account requires a minimum deposit of $4000 per month, however it includes a range of perks such as stolen wallet protection – if your wallet or handbag is pinched, you’ll get up to $500 back to cover your losses.

Newcastle Permanent’s Everyday Account charges zero account keeping fees if you deposit at least $1800 per month or have a home loan with Newcastle Permanent – or if you’re aged under 25.

The Zip Account offered by People’s Choice Credit Union is available if you’re aged 25-54. The monthly fee is waived for many transactions when you credit $2000 per month to your account, or have a home loan or personal loan with People’s Choice, and have not opted to receive paper statements. Available digital wallets include Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay.
