GIVE IT THE FINGERPRINT
Punching in a few digits to unlock your phone is so yesterday. The latest Mobile Consumer Survey from Deloitte shows 45% of smartphones now incorporate a fingerprint reader (up from one in three a year ago) and 69% of those who have the technology on their phones use it. At present, though, we’re not so quick to use fingerprint technology with phone apps. As a guide, only one in three of us uses a fingerprint to authorise a payment or purchase. However, as technology improves, Deloitte predicts a rise in biometrics to identify users. The use of fingerprint recognition for identification purposes has already risen across all major phone manufacturers, though Apple users lead the charge.
