Get there

From the South, follow the A5 through Oswestry, heading for Wrexham. At the roundabout in Chirk (look out for a McDonald’s to your right below the road) take the first exit. Head through Froncysyllte. Two miles before Llangollen town you’ll pass the Llangollen Golf Club on the right, below the road. Continue for 200m, then turn left down Maesmawr Road. Pass through the Maesmawr estate and then turn sharply left, at the sign to the outdoor centre. Pass the centre and carry on for about a mile. One Giant Leap is after the black-andwhite house on the left.

VERDICT

One Giant Leap definitely doesn’t have that manicured ‘bike park’ feel – it’s unmistakably homegrown, and that just makes us love it even more. Llangollen is downhill mountain biking. It really doesn’t get much better than this.
