CHART TOPPERS

We ask pro riders to name their favourite ridng spots. This month, it’s the Flat Pedal Thunder from Down Under, Sam Hill

perth, australia

Picking my top trails is a tough one, because as a racer I get the chance to go to so many cool places. One of my favourite spots, though, has to be just my local trails, where I’ve built stuff myself. I love tricky technical riding and I’ve got a bit of everything in there – rocks, steep sections and loads of good turns. No enduro straight lines, haha!

austria and switzerland

One of my favourite World Cup tracks has to be Schladming, Austria, but the 2003 World Champs track on Monte Tamaro in Lugano, Switzerland, was pretty awesome too. I won Juniors there and placed fourth in Elite, which made it even better. [At this race, Sam beat the next fastest Junior, Gee Atherton, by 11 seconds. It was the first glimmer we saw of the domination to come.]

tasmanian and irish e.w.s. rounds

All the Enduro World Series venues so far have been good, but the race in Tasmania earlier this year was really cool. Derby is just a little backwater town where nothing much happens, but it’s turning into a hotspot for bikes, with loads of good terrain. For atmosphere at a race, though, Ireland has to be the best. Loads of dudes get dressed up and they all get pretty wild cheering you on!
