HANNAH BARNES
After a jam-packed year, Hannah’s saying goodbye to the EWS for 2018
It’s now that time of year when a lot of athletes are planning their future and negotiating contracts. I’m planning a slight change in direction, which involves removing Enduro World Series races from my calendar. After racing them since the start five years ago, it’s been an awesome journey in so many ways, with memories to stay for a lifetime. But they’re becoming increasingly gnarly, and for me that means they’re becoming less fun and more a matter of survival! Thankfully, Specialized see the bigger picture and agree that there are many, many ways to promote our sport and be creative with how we do that. I’m so thankful to still have their support, and excited to get planning for 2018!
Next up is filming with BMW – I’m one of their athletes now, alongside Martin Söderström, which is pretty surreal! – and then returning to Costa Rica for La Ruta de los Conquistadores in November. Also, it’s nearly time for me to submit my nursing portfolio, in order to be able to continue my nurse registration. Life is busy but rewarding and, most of all, happy! Lumi, our dog, is now telling me she’s ready for a run by the river, so off we go!
