Practising staying off the stoppers can make you a better, faster rider

Nothing beats nailing a section as fast as you can, especially when you’re on the limits of control – which is why challengin­g yourself to ride without touching the brakes is a real thrill! You have to really focus on your technique rather than just barrelling into sections. To make it more fun, do it with mates. Start small, perhaps with a flat turn where you need to pedal to generate speed, and build up to riding full descents and gnarly sections as your skill and confidence increase. Just don’t come in too hot!
