“When something broke on my bike, I used to have to go begging and borrowing around the support trucks. I don’t think they realised how much it meant to me to be given a replacement part that would allow me to race the next day. It makes me feel very lucky that I now have all the spares and tools I need to deal with any breakdowns myself.”
