Best in the spring or summer, colourful in autumn and hard going in winter 1 Go left on the road, then right on a bridleway (by campsite). Join the tarmac in Mongewell and turn left, uphill. Follow the A4074 left, then cross it to join the Ridgeway. Go over one minor road and right on the second. Turn o left, past Woodhouse Farm. Shortly after the track bears right, fork left, uphill. Stay on this track, which becomes tarmac. 2 Continue over the crossroads, onto an o -road track and then tarmac along the valley bottom. Turn right, up a bridleway that crosses the road. Go left at the top and over a road. Keep right at the track crossing, go over a forest track, turn right at the T-junction and go left on the tarmac. 3 Just past a house, turn right on a bridleway. Cross one road and keep left to go over another. Continue over three more minor roads and the A4074. After another 0.6km, turn left on a bridleway into the woods. At a track crossing by houses, turn left (singletrack). Keep right. Go left on the minor road. 4 Turn left, past a farm. Go left at the fork, right on the road and left at the crossroads. Just before the A4074, go right, on a bridleway. At the end, turn right on a minor road. When this bears sharp left, continue on a bridleway along the valley bottom. Go straight over an o set track crossing by a house. Turn right on the road, then left, back o it. 5 Pass the stables, then join the road to Whitchurch. Go right on the B471, then take the first left. At the houses, turn right, up a rough track. Go right on the road. Continue ahead, o -road, when the tarmac turns left. Go right on the road. Keep left by two houses, then turn left at the track crossing. 6 Go right at the T-junction, left by the houses and right at the T-junction with a track. Turn left on the road, then left again (‘Goring’). Join a bridleway on the right, before the last houses. Turn left on the road, then right on a bridleway. 7 Keep ahead/right to the end of the wood. Go left at the T-junction, then keep right. Turn right on the road, go over a crossroads, then turn o left, past the airfield. Cross a field, the A4074 and two minor roads. At the three-way junction, join the road ahead. Follow it back to the Ridgeway and go left. 8 Follow the A4074 right. Past the roundabout, go left on a path into the trees. Turn left on the road in Wallingford, back to the car park.
