Start/ inish Drumclog Moor car park (grid ref NS 554/760, postcode G62 8NA) Route summary A two-wheeled take on the proverbial ‘walk in the park’, through some lovely countryside
1
Go out the back of the car park (through the gate opposite the entrance) and climb the hillside. After the trail bears left, keep right at the fork, downhill to a track crossing. Turn right on the West Highland Way (WHW).
2
Follow the WHW to a road and go left on it, then immediately right, back o it, past a small parking area, to stay on the WHW. Follow this past Craigallian Loch, then keep right to descend, passing some houses on your left.
3
Take a sharp right shortly after the last house (if you get to the B821, you’ve gone too far) and climb steeply, into the trees. Go right at the T-junction at the top, then keep ahead/ right. Stay on this cycle route until you reach a road. Turn right on the tarmac (or left to the visitors’ centre/cafe/bike shop). 4
After a gate house, turn left into the Khyber car park and through the park. Pass the anti-aircraft gun emplacements. At a junction just before Mugdock Castle, go right. Follow this path left as it bends around and forks.
5
Descend the hillside. When the track bears left, go into the woods and join a track going right by Mugdock South car park, parallel to the road. Join the road further on and keep ahead/right on it, back to the car park, to finish.
