Start/ inish Morfa Mawddach railway station car park (grid ref SH 630/140, postcode LL39 1BX)
Route summary A scenic ride across the hilltop, with sea views. Nothing too technical, but a couple of big climbs. It’s fairly remote and open to the weather, so time your ride sensibly 1
Join the cycle path on the right-hand side of the car park and follow it right, beside the road you came in on. Cross a side road and keep following the path. When you reach a gate by a crossroads, go right, to the A493. Follow this right, into Arthog. After a short distance, go left, onto a narrow, steep road, uphill.
2
After 1.5km, turn right at the crossroads. Follow this main track for 5km, then keep left, on a grassy track around the hillside. Drop into Llwyngwril, by the pub, and go left on the main road, over the bridge. Take the second left, by the church. 3
Continue uphill, turning left at the T-junction. At the next junction, by a derelict building, go sharp left, back on yourself. Follow this track uphill and join the NCN 8 cycle route. Head downhill on this, keeping right, to a road. Turn left on the tarmac, then, after a short distance, right on a track. Join the road and follow it ahead/right, but look out for a bridleway on the left as the tarmac turns sharply to the right.
4
Follow this bridleway downhill to the A493. Turn right on the road, then left onto a bridleway between the hedges, by the road sign and lamppost. Follow this to the cycle path and turn left on it, back to the railway station, to finish.
