Mountain Biking UK

We’ ll be keeping UK trail riding as our main focus, while continuing to bring you the best stories and photos from all over the world

-

I’ve been an avid reader of MBUK since I was 15, so it’s strange – but exciting! – to see my own face on the opening page. My first issue as editor is an unusual one, because it comes with two very different covers – a leafy autumnal one for readers who buy their mag from a shop and a pared-back (in terms of text, but certainly not ambition!) Christmas special that’s exclusive to our subscribers, as a little extra ‘thank you’ for their continuing support. Hope you like them!

While we’re enjoying a bit of festive frivolity this month (make sure to check out Laurence Crossman-Emms’ cracking shot in our Out Front section!), we’ve got all the usual great features and ‘how to’ advice you’ve come to expect of MBUK, including an eye-opening trip to ride Vancouver’s infamous North Shore. Our testing remains as stringent as ever too, so head to page 67 if you want to see our best-buy beginner bikes, flat pedals, waterproof shorts and more.

I reckon we already strike a pretty good balance between being informative and entertaining, encouraging for beginners but inspiring for more experienced riders, so I won’t be making too many changes. One thing I do want to do, though, is ensure that our readers remain at the heart of everything we do. That means rewarding our loyal subscribers and keeping UK trail riding

– the sort of riding most of us do, most of the time – as our main focus, while continuing to bring you the best stories and images from all over the world.
