ROCKSHOX BOXXER WORLD CUP DOWN HILL FORK

£1,689 Getting better with age

-

The 2019 BoXXer may have a retro red paintjob (don’t worry, it’s also available in black) but it’s an all-new beast. Internally, it runs a DH-specific ‘DebonAir’ spring, which is said to have less friction and to get moving more easily than the previous air spring. To stop things getting too soft, you can easily tune its progression using RockShox’s ‘Bottomless Token’ volume spacers. The latest ‘Charger 2’ cartridge offers external, independent low and high-speed compression and beginning-stroke rebound damping adjustment. Externally, the fork gets new lower legs, revised upper tubes (still 35mm in diameter) and a flat crown, to help keep handlebars from riding too high when the fork is used with 29in wheels. It’s available in 650b and 29er versions, with Boost 20x110mm wheel spacing. Tipping the scales at 2.58kg (650b), RockShox claim it’s the lightest DH fork on the market. www.zyrofisher.co.uk
